Opposite of Lonely

Several years ago, I walked through an anxious and lonely season. The people I thought would always have my back turned out to stab me in the back.

The likelihood of you having a similar situation of having a backstabbing friend or family member is probably pretty good too. I feel your pain. I understand the anxiety it causes and the complexity of learning to trust again.

Here are three things I have learned about overcoming betrayal.

  1. It happened to Jesus, so why would I be so naive to think it wouldn't happen to me?

    1. If you don't know the story of Judas betraying Jesus, please read it here.

  2. Trusting again after betrayal is worth it.

    1. The opposite of loneliness is community. The enemy wants to isolate you and make you believe that all humanity is awful and that you should never trust anyone again. I thought that lie for a long time. Do you know what resulted from that? More anxiety and an extra dose of feeling lonely. Trusting again is worth it, don't get jaded. Instead, get healthy, which leads me to my next point.

  3. Work out your betrayal pain with a counselor or trusted Godly mentor.

    1. Bitterness and unforgiveness rot your bones. My pastor just gave an excellent message on this. You can find it here. His message starts at min 34ish.

The truth is, I don't want you to be lonely. God doesn't want us to be lonely.

One more FREE tool I'd love to equip you with today. As I've walked through the journey of writing and publishing my upcoming book, I have made friendships with some excellent Jesus-loving writers. My new friend Summer has a beautiful mission to help people find peace. She has created 21 Days of John for February, and I think you will find it encouraging.

Follow this link to sign up for daily scripture reading and prayers. If you desire to get into the Word and pray more often, this tool is a beautiful way to kickstart that and bring peace in your life.

With love,
